Title: Caramel Apple Cheescake Receipe
Post by: Roscoe on September 05, 2011, 08:47:55 PM
Stumbling along the grocery Aisle today, trying to decide what to make for dinner, I found a reciepe I couldn't pass up. It's baking now, and the taste test that I did prior to baking tasted great so here goes. If no one else tries the receipe, at least I know where to find it. :laughhard:

1 can (21 oz) Apple pie filling
1 graham cracker crust (9 inch)
2 pkgs ( 8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tbls vanilla- I used a touch more
2 eggs
1/4 cup caramel topping
2 Tbls chopped pecans

Reserve 3/4 cup of pie filling. Spoon remaining pie filling into crust. Blend Cream cheese, sugar and vanilla, then beat in eggs. Pour over pie filling in crust. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes, or until center is set. Cool.
Meanwhile, combine reserved pie filling and caramel topping. May need to heat to soften caramel. Spoon evenly over cake, sprinkle chopped nuts over center. Chill. Serves 12, or one Minnesota named Oklahoma farm boy. :P

* Disclaimer- Said galoot may not even like cheesecake or apple pie. After all, he's a borderline communist what doesn't like lasagna or chocolate gravy. I *imagine* that if he did like it, he would eat it all up in one setting.  :laughhard:

What brand apple pie filling do you use?  Every brand I've tried has been singularly flavorless, more so that the so-called yellow delicious apples it is supposed to be made from.  Best way I've found is to use homemade fried apples my grandmother fried and froze.

I used the cheapo Great value brand, then soup it up a bit with cinamon and  and some nutmeg..

The Caramel Apple cheesecake turned out heavenly. I've made two more since the one I was making while posting this receipe, and they were VERY well received. One of 'em went to a church bakesale, the other two- well, I got my share of them.

The cheesecake bars receipe you posted will have to be tried....
